Pilots - AI4Deliberation

Pilots

Project implementation involves testing the validity of the AI-Enhanced Deliberation Framework in real-world environments. Four pilots in Greece, Italy, Germany, and internationally will test the Framework in action, tackling real-world challenges like drafting laws, planning for climate change, enhancing smart cities, and addressing Long Covid impacts

Local Deliberation at Bamberg Smart City, Germany

The Bamberg pilot will explore two citizen participation models—top-down using the Consul platform and bottom-up with a new, locally-tailored engagement platform—both enhanced with AI features to improve deliberation and citizen involvement.

Objectives:

Top-Down Participation (Consul Platform):

  • Test AI tools, to reduce misinformation in municipal dialogues.
  • Evaluate AI’s ability to create an evidence-based foundation for discussions.
  • Explore AI’s role in enhancing the legitimacy and transparency of top-down participation.

Bottom-Up Participation (New Engagement Platform):

  • Implement AI to promote more inclusive and proactive citizen involvement.
  • Assess AI’s impact on platform engagement and user attraction.
  • Test AI applications to bridge the digital divide in small-scale local networks.
  • Collaborate with ongoing projects to integrate AI4Deliberation results into the new platform.
